HEATH 2008 Parade Home

1095 BEDFORD COURT, MARION

Beauty IS in the details:  Phenomenal over-sized crown molding, subtle color palette, and well organized clear space. Sit, lounge, stand, or mingle – this great room gives it’s nod of approval!

Earthy and inviting would be well chosen words to describe the amenities throughout the spacious house built by Ben Heath. Beginning at the front door is an intricate wood inlay medallion surrounded with tiny one and a half inch boards. The inlay is in mocha and the rest of the maple is the color of golden, sun kissed wheat. The narrow strips of wood are quite unusual in today’s market. Again, Ben embraced detail as he and Jill Vander Linden, from Phelan’s Interiors, worked the mocha inlay design as a border, not only in the foyer, but the hallways, the great room, the kitchen and the eating area.

The Ben Heath home definitely deserves top billing on your not to be missed list.  Look for House #9 in the Gazette guide. I will  be there Saturday and Jill Vander Linden, lead designer will be in on Sunday, so stop in and say hi!

Parade of Homes 2008

                     BEFORE

THE JOYS OF PARADE HOME PREPARATION

”What do you mean something smells funny?”

“Anyone seen the hammer?”

“Put the area rug upstairs in the Media Room.”

“Oops.”

You probably wouldn’t know that the photo above is a  Bonus Room aimed at family activities. Obviously, it’s  the before picture in Boyd Printy’s rustic traditional home (#7 on the map). It is with great excitement, anticipation and pride that builders open Parade home doors on Saturday, September 20 at noon.                                                     AFTER

Whether it’s joining in a board game or struggling with a 1000 piece jigsaw puzzle, this is a room which welcomes all comers, all ages. It is spacious as well as comfortable. Phelan’s Interiors worked with Printy’s vision to create this delightful, inviting home. Be sure to include this home on your “must see” touring list.

FYI: There is one more architectural surprise waiting for visitors in the foyer of this house – check it out! I’ll be there Saturday and Stacie Reid, the lead designer,  will be in on Sunday – so stop in and say hello.

SIMPLE

“Seductive. Highly figured ‘cross fire’ cherry veneers, an uptown licorice-painted finish, clean lines, and softly chamfered posts underscore Cinnamon Hill’s versatile appeal. Panel, poster, peninsula, or hay rake inspired beds let you reflect your own attitude toward restful comfort. Simple.”

So, if this is what you envision for your home there is also a magazine called REAL SIMPLE. It’s got your name on it. Check out ways to simplify cooking, closets, cosmetics and decorating at Realsimple.com.

COTERIER: the New Glamorous Traditional

From the French comes the word Coterier

Roughly translated it means “tenants” and is akin to the Olde English meaning of “cot” or “hut”. Think of a clique or better yet, a family living in a wonderful cottage. . . a family deeply devoted to one another.

From the Thomasville COTERIER collection:  THE BUFFET

The Coterier (pronounced KO-ter-ee) collection offers a twenty first century take on stable traditional  concepts with adaptability galore. We dressed it up with Va-voom on our show room floor! A frame-less, beveled mirror sparkles with other Hollywood Regency accessories – right down to the art deco inspired area rug. Fashion forward, elegant, and wise. BUT -

A client purchased this piece to display her antique sponge-ware collection inside the lighted buffet, and it couldn’t look more at home. She is devoted to more of a “Come right in and have a cup of coffee”, country look. No fuss, no muss could be the motto of her clique.

THOMASVILLE says, “Traditional here. Metropolitan there. Fresh and inviting wherever it goes. That’s Coterie, with the classical line and statuesque shapes that have endeared generations to traditional. But without the traditional touch-me-not stuffiness. Much like the melting pot nature of America, from where it takes its inspiration, Coterie combines in one unified collection a diverse mix of lineages, giving each piece a “found” look that makes it even more intriguing. Rich, lustrous, dark cherry Cocoa finish. Altogether, an exceptionally beautiful collection.”

Can you tell I am excited about this entire collection?

It captivates your interest. It’s beautiful. It’s today.

Come in, and you be the judge!
